Your Sister’s Purse

The picture popped up like a ghost,
the sentimental, flowery love note
roughly fastened to a dried bouquet—
an ephemeral postcard from memory lane.
Like a monsoon mid-sea,
the baggage poured over me,
seeping under my skin until it overflowed as tears.
I thought this was buried…
How many years
until the haunting apparition finally departs?
I remember, after you won my heart,
you went shopping and bought me a purse.
In your wardrobe, I accidentally found another.
More expensive.
Nicer.
It’s for your sister.
You swear it is.
But to this day, I’ve never seen her wear it.
